What do you end up with when AgNO3 and Na2CO3 react?
« on: November 16, 2007, 08:28:35 AM »
AgNO3 + Na2CO3 = ?
Silver Nitrate + Sodium Carbonate = ?
I think that it looks something like;
AgNO3 + Na2CO3 = Ag2CO3 + NaNO3
Silver Nitrate + Sodium Carbonate = Silver Carbonate + Sodium Nitrate
but I'm really not sure. Confirmation or a little help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Start from correct formulas for sodium and silver carbonate

AgNO3 + Na2CO3 = Ag2CO3 + NaNO3

Good, but not balanced  :).

Note Ag2CO3 decomposes further to Ag2O when warming in water
