I know that in an SN2 reaction, a molecule like 1-chloropentane would react faster than 1-fluoropentane because Cl is a better leaving group than F due to its size. Is the same true for an SN1 reaction?

Yes. The rate determining step of an Sn1 reaction is loss of the leaving group to form the carbocation.
