dont understand this reaction problem

Will the following react?? if so what is the product:

1-methylcyclobutanol --(Cr2O7 2- with HOAc and heat)-->

cis-4-methylcyclobutanol --(Cr2O7 2- with HOAc and heat)-->


this is from my chem lab, i dont think its written well because i dont understand it.

With that reagent, what do you think is supposed to happen?
Can it happen in both of the examples?
