Does anybody know what causes the poison in a foxtail palm seed? I need it for a research paper, please answer as soon as possible.

Toxin(s) Diterpenes.

Signs Causes nausea and vomiting. GI upset. Rashes.

Thank you for the effort, Wodyetia bifurcata is the right one, although we've visited that page before already since we've been working on these papers since June. Sadly, the page didn't have the components I was looking for.

A little googling on the scientific name and the word "toxic" turns up nothing.  It may be time (or in your case, slightly overdue) for a specific literature search.  If indeed you're sure it is toxic -- where'd you hear of it's toxic seeds?  A specific class in botany, or toxicology, or ... .  What is your research paper supposed to be about, and for what sort of class?
