Amylene (aka 2-methylbut-2-ene)
« on: March 07, 2008, 07:40:30 AM »
Hi everyone. :)

I need to know the industrial applications of 2-methylbut-2-ene (aka amylene). I know it's a component of gasoline but not much else. I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find anything. Any toughts ?

Thanks.

To paraphrase, and butcher somewhat, a Simpsons quote:

Short answer: Not a lot, with a but:

Long answer: On the other hand, with an if:

Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Thanks for replying.

...it is most often blended into gasoline...

OK, but with what purpose ?

I also found that amylene was used as an anesthetic agent.
