CLOUD CHAMBER?
« on: February 23, 2008, 01:44:03 AM »
Hello - Does anyone know where a person can purchase an inexpensive cloud chamber, that can be simply used with dry ice to function?
Years ago, many years actually, Edmunds Scientific co. use to offer these, but times have seriuously changed.
I have tried United Nuclear, but there version, very expensive indeed
is rarely available(out of stock)
I have also checked out unitednucleus.com none there either?

Any help is appreciated.

Kids used to make them back in the day, you might find a recipe in an old children's book of science.  IIRC, isn't it just a plastic circular chamber, with a black painted bottom, sitting on a block of dry ice, with a felt ring about the top soaked in solvent?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Am I missing something? Isn't it YOUR site? You have to check it to find out what you have put there?

Yeah. Wiki. Google. 30 seconds.

I have found description of how to make one in 30 seconds. Shame on you for not trying before asking.

Edit: I was wrong. I have found two, not one. I have just answered before checking what has been opened in other browser tab.

Thanks for the info, I know there not too diffcult to construct, especially the simple basic ones with blotter paper.
