In science at school we do basically no chemistry and heaps of biology which is boring as!!!!!!!!.The sydney morning sun herald recently published an article outlining the fact of australian students loosing their interest in chemistry and physics. This in a way is good news for me because I want to be a chemist when i grow up and be more than that and if what they say is real than it might not be as hard. However this is bad news for australia and education.

The education department in aus simply needs to do something to make the subjects less theory and more practical in order to save our countries sceince reputations.(Note the award schemes like intel young scientist and BHP awards are doing a good job in encouraging people to get involved.

how about chemical engineering? i hear australian chemical engineers are pretty much involved in the lucrative mining industries there!
"Say you're in a [chemical] plant and there's a snake on the floor. What are you going to do? Call a consultant? Get a meeting together to talk about which color is the snake? Employees should do one thing: walk over there and you step on the friggin snake." - Jean-Pierre Garnier, CEO of Glaxosmithkline, June 2006

Physics is just amazing! Education can blow your mind if you let it.
