i would like to get help in finding the uses of this material: S(R)-1-Deoxy-1-(p-tolylsulfinyl)-2-O-(benzyl)-3,4-O-isopropylidene-D-erythritol 
any information can help

As far as I can see from the name, it's just a protected monosaccharide, so it may find some use in the chemical synthesis of sugars and the like. I guess you could also use it as a chiral auxillary or similar to help direct other reactions.
