Maybe somebody could explain the mechanism of the reaction between indole and indole-3-aldehyde, catalized by few drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid.(tri(1H-indol-3-yl)methane was obtained).
Attached please find the reaction.
Thanx.

Treat this reaction analogously to the reaction of aldehyde with actve methylene
