Is there any way to etch acrylic plexiglass?

Is there any chemical ways to eat away exposed acrylic plexiglass that are not very reactive to other things, such as laser printer ink.

For etching acrylic, you can use methylene chloride. I said you could, I'm not sure if you'd want to.  I'm not sure if methylene chloride will attack the plastic laser printer toner is made of, wikipedia says it's styrene acrylate copolymer or a polyester resin, so you'll have to find out what you're dealing with before you can check those.  Sounds to me like styrene acrylate copolymer is too similar to polymethylmethacrylate (which is what Plexiglas is) for you to find an exclusive solvent.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Thanks.
Than, what would be the safest and cheapest way to just etch acrylic plexiglass by itself ?

Acetone?

Would mineral spirits do it if I ask them?  ;)

take a look a photolithography on wiki. If you want to do it chemically start there for ideas.  my question is why not do it through physical/mechanical means like a dremel or something.
