Just looking at a question which has an infrared spectrum of 4-methoxyacetophenone. It says what is the peak at m/z 135 due to. It's due to fragmentation of the molecule right. However is the molecular forumla CH30C6H5C0CH3 or not?

Short answer
Not.
Slightly longer prod in the right direction
How does the formula of acetophenone compare to benzene, and how does the formula of methoxybenzene (anisole) compare to benzene?
