What's aspirin? Does it have another name? What's ethanoic acid? Does it have another name? What does it smell like? Can you use the names to pull together an answer?

"somehow ethanoic acid is formed when asprin reacts with air"
My guess would be the water vapour in the air hydrolysed the -CH3COO- group to form ethanoic acid.
