Strong field Oh d7 complex
« on: April 27, 2008, 01:12:52 PM »
For Strong field Oh d7 complex, tanabe Sugano diagram shows the expected spin allowed transitions are

2Eg --> 2T1g
2Eg --> 2T2g
2Eg --> 2T1g

Do my professor write them wrongly? Why 2Eg --> 2 T1g is repeated??Is there another meaning (or different ground term)? Thank you!

This is a link to an interactive d7 Tanabe-Sugano Diagram.  It should clear up any questions/issues you are having:

This link exemplifies the use of a Tanabe-Sugano Diagram:

It seems there are only 2 spin-allowed transitions if I haven't determined wrongly! (The repeated one written by my professor is a sulphus)
