A small challange
« on: May 12, 2008, 06:23:28 AM »
Hi! Recently i got a challange from my teacher and i managed to finnish the task and now I wonder how you would accomplish the exact same task.

The task is to write as many Structural Formulas (and also name them) on the isomerers of the following formulas:

1) C6H12
2) C7H16O

So, how would you do this?

1.there are 6 carbon so the following can occur:
an alkene,an iso alkene,a benzene ring and an alkyne combinbation
2.can either be an alcohol,an organic with a C-O-C bond or a cresol

I would calculate degrees of unsaturation (then I'd know if there are multiple bonds or rings involved).  Then I would start drawing keeping the octet rule in mind.
