Reaction between thiol and carboxyle
« on: May 27, 2008, 12:30:08 PM »
Hi everybody,

I have a question about a reaction between thiol (SH) and carboxyle (COOH), do you know if this reaction is possible, carboxyle is it attacked by thiol ? What kinf of reaction is it ?
I have particles thiol-functionnalized, and i don't know why this particles make a bond with amino acid...
thanks

This is essentially a Fischer Esterification except with a thiol instead of an alcohol...
