« on: May 30, 2008, 07:34:58 AM »
a solution of copper (2) chloride is mixed with zinc poweder, copper powder is formed
give the balanced equation for this reaction.

Zn is a transition metal so im not sure if the equation should be Zn + CuCl2 ----> ZnCl2 + Cu  OR 2Zn + CuCl2 ---> 2ZnCl + Cu

thankyou for help

Divalent means that has a +2 charge (in the case of metals).  Zn most common oxidation state is +2
