adsorption of methanol

hai friends.
can we separate the methanol-water(30wt% methanol) mixture by adsorption? if so , which adsorbent is used for doing separation? and how it had to be done.

Hi coolsuman,

I don't know of an efficient way to separate methanol from water. This question has been posted many times on this forum with luke-warm results at best.

This may be a good project in which you could become a millionaire  :) if you are able to figure it out.

difficult :P
maybe you can find a sorbent for that btu you can really reach higher than 80 %..as there properties are quite close to each other

the best way to remove methanol of this composition is by distillation only
