Maximum wavelength - lambda max

I know WHAT lambda max is.  What I am unclear about is WHY it is important to know it before creating a standard curve?
This is for a Absorbence of light vs. concentration experiment.
Any help is greatly appreciated

What will be method sensitivity for other wavelengths?

OK.  How did you determine Lambda max?  And what did you do with it, once you knew it.  FWIW, there isn't a direct connection between lanbda max and the standard curve.  That is to say, there are other steps involved in between the two, and it should become clearer to you, after re-reading them.
