rate of reaction
« on: September 17, 2008, 04:49:44 PM »
Is there any way to know figure out a mechanism based on its reaction kinetics. For instance, I know the reaction is zero-order, is there any rule that says "If zero-order , then, x must happen" or something like that?

hey,

yes. that is if you know the rate law. You could come up with the slow step(the order is the stoichiometric coefficient of the reactant). And as for the other steps(fast), you could work from the slow step, and remember the overall stoichiometric ratio of all your steps(slow and fast) should be the same as the overall reaction. But i presume it will not be easy if it involves multiple steps rather than just 2 steps.
No matters what results are waiting for us, it's nothing but the DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!
