Balance the following equation. (for a balanced eq. aA + bB => cC + dD, enter your answer as the integer abcd)

ClO3−(aq) + H2O(l) + I2(s) ® IO3−(aq) + Cl−(aq) + H+(aq)

Balance the following equation for a reaction in acidic solution. Only H+ or H2O may be added. (enter your answer as the sum of the coefficients)

Cl2(g) ® ClO3−(aq) + Cl−(aq)

When in doubt set yourself up a BIG FAT matrix and Row Reduce Echelon Form it.  I know its like taking out one tank with a nuclear bomb, but it works every time. 8)

Whapper2006: please read forum rules. You have to show that you tried. These are both redox equations, find out what is oxidized and what is reduced first.
