Fusion of barium sulfate
« on: October 03, 2008, 03:29:15 PM »
I am trying to dissolve barium sulfate for analysis by ICP- unsuccessfully! I am using a 1:20  of sodium carbonate in a 1000C . Then I try to dissolve the cold melt in a 1:1 HCl . Unfortunately I find a white ppt , leading me to believe that somewhat barium sulfate is reprecipitating... an ideas?
