Hi there, I'm an environmental professional working on an island off the coast of California. Here is my problem; a ranch has chlorinated water delivered to an above ground storage tank and by the time the water travels to the house which is not that far, there is no trace of chlorine in the water. I'm baffled. Any ideas?

If your water comes in contact with silver, mercury, or lead ions, the chloride ion will react with them to form an insoluble precipitate.
