Between Methoxyethane and Butane, Methoxyethane has a higher boiling point. They both are non-polar and have a similar length. What is causing the difference? Obviously it has something to do with the oxygen atom, but what exactly?

Methoxyethane is certainly more polar than plain butane. The C-O bond is polarized and the molecule has a larger molecular dipole than butane.
