Different Salt Solubilities
« on: October 15, 2008, 10:14:11 AM »
Gday, i have a question where it asks me to rank varying salts in order of solubility assuming same radius.

My answer was along the lines of,

The higher the individual charges of the two ions the more energy it takes for the structure to break apart and form
charges with the water..

Is this in the ball park, something to do with coulombs law?

cheers

If you are assuming all the same radius, then yes, you're just playing with coulombs law.
