Using standard enthalpies of formation to solve question
« on: October 17, 2008, 04:46:52 PM »
Hi

This question asks me to Use standard enthalpies of formation to calculate the standard change in enthalpy for the melting of ice. (The Delta Hof for H2O is -291.8 kj/mole

I do not understand how to start the problem. I have a chart in my book that says H2O (l) is -285.8 would that be the answer?

Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
