More Michaelis-Menten- Kcat question

Why do we need the total enzyme concentration to find Kcat?

Kcat=Vmax/[Et]

Vmax=K2[Et]

Doesn't this cancel out so that Kcat=K2?  My book says this definition is an approximation, but if that's the case doesn't the first definition also have to be an approximation?

k2 and kcat are two different names same thing, the rate constant for conversion of the enzyme-substrate complex to enzyme + product.
