wait, are you askign for chemicals taht woudl clean off metal? hydrochloric acid, sulfiric acid, hydroflouric acid, and phosphoric acid all clean metal. tehy can be bought online, or hydrochloric and phosphoric acid can be found diluted at hardware stores.

Hi 7453K,

Great questions! I have a few more myself.  dionl, are you looking for surfactants to water-wet a portion of chemistry? If so, which chemicals?

Dionl, could you please provide a little more information so that we can answer your question?

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Eugene

Hi Eugene, yes i can give some information about my question..
My question is about pretreatments (PICKLING, PASSIVATION, PHOSPHATIZING, CLEANING, ELECTROPOLISHING, ACTIVATION). For pretreatments i try to make formulations but my missing is surfactants. i do not know which surfactants can i use? when i try to search there lots of lists about chemicals that can be used.. i am asking on the basis os your experiences.. So can you help me about formulations of pretreatments? :-\

I would go to one of the chemical suppliers of surfactants (like DOW, BASF, CIBA, SURFACHEM..)  and let them know what you are formulating  -  giving them some info about WHAT exactly is in your formulation and what you are trying to achieve by adding surfactant (Better phosphate dispersion? Better wetting? etc..) and the sales rep there should be able to direct you to a suitable range of products.

As I suggested - I still think you would be better off calling the rep from your surfactant supplier and asking them to reccommend a suitable product from their range. That way they can prescribe the best solution for you.  Have you had any luck with this?
