I'm trying to make a 1 L acetic acid buffer at a pH of 4.75 using glacial acetic acid and solid NaOH but I want to make the buffer such that I have 0.100 M in acetic acid + acetate. So, my problem is that I need to add the correct amounts of acid and base to 500 mL of water.
I've calculated that I need to add 4 grams of NaOH and 12 grams of acetic acid, so I just want someone to double check that.
That calculation came from taking 0.2 moles of acetic acid and 0.1 moles of solid NaOH in 500 mL of water, so there will be 0.1 moles of acetic acid + acetate in the buffer, then dilute with another 500 mL of water. I hope I'm doing this right.
