Cu + HNO3 ------> Cu(NO3)2 + NO + H2O
Tried balancing it, but I always get an extra 2 Nitrogen

Ah, i took pretty long to figure it out after trials and errors. Hint: 8 moles of HNO3. Well you can also try online chemical balancer but it isn't as fun than to do it on your own.

Not very easy, but not very hard either. It is a classic redox equation.
