Moving to Dedicated Server
« on: December 30, 2008, 11:28:45 PM »
I'll be moving Chemical Forums off of media temple's grid server soon, and onto a dedicated server. The first website to be moved was www.chemfeeds.com and it seemed to of survived the move well enough. I'll give a larger heads up when it is chemicalforums turn to move. Hopefully this means faster load times!
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
3. Forum Supports LaTex

That'll mean DNS propagation downtime?

If youd could post new IP in advance, that should speed things up for moderators.

Apparently there is a script on chemfeeds thats causing disk usage to max out. It has been a complete disaster moving that website over. So much so, I gave up and will keep it at the grid server. I'll be trying to move chemistry-blog.com over next. Maybe a prepackaged website will function better than a website based on my scripting abilities.

www.chemistry-blog.com has been moved and the new DNS settings should be propagating through out the internet. Hopefully this goes well.

Wow that was an other disaster and it didn't work! I'm not looking forward to trying this with chemical forums. :/

I think I need help, are there experts of such things here?
