Hi all !

I'm very confused between base and nucleophile , what's the difference between them taking in mind i can distinguish when the reaction need base or nucleophile but when i say that's base or nucleophile regardless the type of reaction .

Thanks a lot

bases abstract hydrogens and nucleophiles attack carbons (electrophiles)
all nucleophiles are bases, but not all bases can act as nucleophiles.
you should pay attention to steric that can prevent attacking carbon forcing the nucleophile to act as a base abstracting hydrogen
in everything God works for the good of those who love him

Basicity is about equilibrium.
Nucleophilicity is about the rate.
