Preparative TLC

I need to know the general method for using preparative TLC plates (silica, C18, reversed phase). Where can I find a general procedure??  Thanks! ???

Google for 'tlc plates preparation' - 59900 hits, in first 10 at least three seems promising. First is a link to page with some detailed recipes (www.chromatography.co.uk/TECHNIQS/TLC/cnote9.htm)...
