Hi ARGOS,

Thanks for the reply.

So we cannot simply assume that its 180 +8 ???

I tried to do it 4 *188 and I got 32o. But does that mean that we decreased the concentration by a factor of 4? (in case we had multiple measurements and the number of full turns was know)

And say we knew the number of full turns. then would +188 be 180 +8 and that makes the optical rotation = +8? or would it be -172 (360-188)?

so in this case I should look at other factors that could have affected optical rotation of the sample such as temperature of the solvent used if it was different ???

Thanks again!

d
