organic chemistry...
« on: May 15, 2009, 11:38:49 AM »
Hi, I just finished my sophomore year as a chemical engineering student, I am doing pretty well.  I just got a C+ in organic chem II though and I am really disappointed in it it is my lowest grade so far in college.  I am writing really because I just wanted to know how much organic chem a chemical engineer uses will this reflect poorly of me if employers or graduate schools see it?  I did not slack off either that C+ was the hardest earned C+ I have ever earned in my life I just couldn't really get the hang of the class.  Other classes like calculus, thermo and my first material balance class seem to come so much easier to me.

My employer did not request a transcript.  Some don't, but some will.

You need to ask your self the question "Do I really want to work for company, who would reject someone for one C+?"

An employer may care more about you GPA for a first job with no experience.  For a second job forward, your interviewing skills, your work experience, and the type of work relative to the job you are applying for count the most.

It is my experience that grades do not make the engineer, but work ethic and personality do.
