Hello everyone.
I had this question in class and I cannot figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
Which atom is reduced when gold, Au, reacts with aqua regia???
I guessed Cl-. Is this right? If not why??
Thanks everyone.

Oh you're in luck, this question has come up recently. See:

for a good explanation. The answer given there will come in handy, for the exam, for this reaction, and many others like it.
