Alright so for this question I got part (b) but stuck on part (a), any help or what did I do wrong on part a?

a hint: the aldol is an important carbon-carbon bond forming reaction. Thus, as you go backward from the product to the aldol precursor starting material, you need to break a carbon-carbon bond.
