«

Hi,
Can somebody explain
how
to answer this question?
What is the maximum amount of carbon monoxide that can be produced by reaction of 1 kg octane (C8H18) with 1 kg of oxygen to produce CO and H2O?
The answer is 1.956 kg
Thank you.

Start with the reaction equation. This is a
limiting reagent
problem.

Is this correct? ..C8H18 + 8.5O2 = 8CO + 9H20??
But i dont know were to go from here.
do you say 1 mole of octane +8.5 moles of oxygen produce 8 moles of CO?
