So, out of curiosity, was it correct when I put the products as being ZnO and 2 H
2O? I can (at least I think anyways, lol) do the net ionic and total molecular formulas and all that jazz, it's just doing the initial balanced reaction that stumps the bajesus out of me. In this case, the balanced molecular formula would be like this, if I've got this all correctly:
Zn(OH)
2 + HNO
3 + H
2O
ZnO + NO
3- + 2 H
2O
and the total ionic would be:
Zn
2+ + 2 OH
- + H
+ + NO
3 + H
2O
Zn
2+ + O
2- + NO
3- + 2 H
2O
and the net ionic would be:
hmm, actually, I don't know how to write that, since one of the oxygens from our hydroxide bonded with zinc... lol.
