Hi,
I am putting together a couple of profiles of different kinds of engineers based on the things they do. This is to help seniors in college decide whether they would want to pursue a career as a chemical engineer. I'd like to know if this encapsulates at a broad level the things that a chemical engineer gets to do, and the things they can learn going forward?
Any comments, suggestions, corrections, etc are welcome as this would help in providing visibility to budding engineers.

Basic Profile – Chemical engineers design, develop and operate plants and machinery that are used for manufacturing various products through chemical reactions.
What a chemical engineer does
- Designing new processes for developing polymers, drugs, petrochemicals, fertilizers etc
- Setting up of process plants and factories
- Managing worker activity to ensure smooth production process
- Managing production costs and developing production progress reports
- Developing safety standards for workers that are operating equipment and machinery
Career pathways for a chemical engineer
Engineers -> Technical Specialists -> Manager
Engineers -> Technical Specialists -> Sales
What a chemical engineer learns from the job
- Learns how to predict problems that can occur in a process and how to solve such problems
- Learns how to communicate across various technical and project teams
- Learns how to order information from various sources to ensure smooth running of a plant
