Cleaning Off Annoying Brown Manganese Stains
« on: July 31, 2009, 05:03:31 PM »
I work in the lab and there's brown manganese stains (I think it's MnO2 ) around on the countertop, test tubes, you name it. Usually I'd use oxalic acid to wash it right out but I got none left. What else could be used to wash it?

Try with diluted HF (~ 10-15%).

I usually clean such stains with a mixture of diluted sulphuric acid with some addition of H2O2. Quickly gets rid of MnO2
