Is this dangerous? what kind of precautions do i have to take in this procedure? I just want to see myself what it is like in the battery.

don't get any liquids in there on you, like battery acid. It'll burn your skin, irritate eyes, that sort of stuff. At least thats the type of battery that comes to mind...
