"The following (unbalanced) occurs in a basic solution:
MnO
4- (aq) + S
2- (aq)
MnS (s) + S (s)
Balance this using the half reaction method."
I'm not exactly sure what the two half reactions are. I know that Mn is reduced and O is oxidized, but wouldn't that require both half reactions to contain S
2- as a reactant?
MnO
4- (aq) + S
2- (aq)
MnS (s)
and
S
2- (aq)
S (s)
since
MnO
4- (aq)
MnS (s)
makes no sense?
