Gold!
« on: September 22, 2009, 10:57:40 PM »
It is said that if all the gold on earth was concentrated into a solid block, it would form a cube with the length of 100 yards. What is the mass of this block of gold in kg? The density of gold is 19.32g/cm^3 and there is .9144 m in 1 yard.

I got this 1.766620x10^6

Verification from a smarter person please?

Well, my attempt at this.  :P
.9144 m = 91.44 cm
100 yards = 9144 cm
Cube with length 100 yards = 91443
= 7.645548 x 1011 cm3
Gold weighs 19.32 g cm-3
So... total weight = 1.47712 x 1013 grams.
