Organic - alkene oxidation with MnO4-

Is it A?
The answer says it's B
Is that because the answer asks giving ethanoic acid only?
Since A will give ethanoic acid & Carbon dioxide. Its not A
Whereas B gives 2 ethanoic acids so it gives only acid. Right??
Bit confused here

Answer B is correct. That compound will give only ethanoic acid. As you have written, the compound A will give ethanoic acid and carbon dioxide, so it couldn't be correct.
