Definition of Intereference in terms of Waves

Is interference defined as the canceling or doubling of the amplitudes of waves.....with the same wavelength and frequency?

(I want to know if the underlined words are true and part of the basic definition)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

No, you can have interference between waves with different wavelength and/or frequency.

Thanks. Also, it could be amplified by a value between zero (line) and double the amplitude, right?

Yes, that is correct.  A good example of interference between two waves of different frequency is beating.  If you mix two waves with different frequencies, the resulting wave oscillates with a frequency corresponding to the difference between the frequency of the original two waves.
