Maxwell velocity distribution calculation

Hi folks,

got another problem regarding the max.vel.distr.:

Calculate the amount of N2 molecules which have a velocity of 295 +/-5 (m/s) at 500K. (velocity interval = infinitesimal).

this calculation should be easy: f(v) * dv

f(v).. the formular of max.ve.distr.
d(v) . +/-5 m/s

The problem is: when i calculate the e^-Mv2/2RT Term i always get zero.
M . 28g/mol
v....295m/s
R.... 8,31x10^-2
T= 500K

what am i doing wrong ?

Check the units of your calculation, especially for R.  You'll find your problem there.  (remember that 1 J = 1 kg m2 s-2)

oh yes, 0,028kg/mol and 8,31J/kmol  ;D
