Grams of solute in the following?...
« on: November 06, 2009, 10:31:05 PM »
I'm in formula hell.  I've been looking at formulas for hours.  Can't find the one I need to figure out this one.

How many grams of solute are in 3.5 L of 1.4 Moles Al(NO3)3

I have a few more problems like it too.  I think if I see it once, I will know what to do.

Thanks in advance.

Do you mean 1.4 moles per litre?
If you do you first got to work out the number of moles of Al(NO3)3 in 3.5 litres. n= c(concentration in mol L-1) x V(volume in litres). Once you have this, the mass can be calculated by multiplying n by the molar mass of Al(NO3)3
