ok. In my chemistry class I was given two equation to work with when trying to obtain the heat of fusion of ice
they were:
Heat lost by calorimeter = -Ccal :delta:Tcal=heat to melt ice + heat to warm water from ice
and
heat gained (ice,water) = (mice)(sfusion)+(mice)(4.184)( :delta:Twater from ice)
( :delta:Tcal=Tfinal-Tinitial) and ( :delta:Twater form ice=Tfinal-Tice)
the data that i obtained was:
Ccal=876.3
Masswater=200
Masswater+ice=215.359
Massice=15.4
Temperature of Calorimeter before addition of ice=22.3
Temperature of ice=0.3
Temperature of Calorimeter after addition and melting of ice=14.1
So far i cant make heads nor tails of the equations given to me. I have some basic information down such as the :delta:Tcal=-8.2 but i'm unsure of some of my other calculations such as the Heat lost by calorimeter (i got 7186). Even with the basic information I have no idea how i'm suppose to use these two equations to find the heat of fusion. Does anyone know whats going on here? I'm completely confused.
