Tubulin
« on: November 21, 2009, 09:33:21 PM »
Tubules :rarrow: Microtubules :rarrow: Tubulin :rarrow: Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta/Epsilon Tubulin :rarrow: Multiple parts under each greek word (For example, TUBA1A)

So, I'm looking into how to draw (through a program, preferably ChemSketch) a extremely complex protein such as TUBA1A and all of its multiple cousins. Can someone give me any ideas of how to draw something like this, where to get it a molecular structural drawing, or if it is made up of sub-units that could be drawn to recreate the whole picture:

TUBA1A (From Wikipedia)

Are there similar structures between different tubulin; What are the different structures between tubulin?

Thanks. :)

If this cannot be drawn or cannot be found as a molecular structural drawing via the internet, please give me a site, link, place where I can go to purchase the drawing.

Pymol (www.pymol.org) is commonly used to display the structures of large biological molecules such as proteins.  You can search for an download files to display at the protein databank (www.rcsb.org/pdb).  I don't know if Pymol has drawing capabilities, however.
