crossover experiments
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:30:46 AM »

Please , an application needed in detailed

W=migration group
A=migration origin
B=migration terminus

In this type of experiment, rearrangement
is carried out on a mixture of W–A–B and V–A–C, where V is closely
related to W (say, methyl vs. ethyl) and B to C

Recovery

In an intra-molecular process only
A–B–W and A–C–V are recovered

In an inter-molecular process not only
A–B–W and A–C–V  but also A–B–V and A–C–W are recovered

Take some reaction and let you explain, by that i can understand.

regards

What searches have you made?

Consider for instance the Claisen rearrangement of allyl phenyl ether to yield 2-allylphenol. Conceivably this can run either intra- or intermolecularly (in the latter case with separated ions etc.). What happens when you treat a mixture of allyl phenyl ether and 2-methylallyl 4-methylphenyl ether under these conditions?

What would happen if the reaction were intermolecular? Intramolecular?
